it has to be fast

Hi,

I'm a pro using Canon reflex cameras. I need a P&S to carry around for more informal and personal shots.

I've a G12 that I'm selling. Don't get me wrong, I'm satisfied with the camera, I like it. It has some problem with highlights even for perfectly exposed images, but that's not a major issue.

But I want to change it basically for two reasons. First one being its size. It's not that easy to carry it in a pocket, but above all I think its various delays are quite annoying.

Startup time is too long, it happens to me quite often that I cannot take a photo because the camera takes too long to switch on and be ready. My iPhone is just much faster.

Then, when in manual mode, the lag between two shots, or the time before it's ready to change manual settings are WAY too long. It's not the shutter lag which bothers me, it's there, but it's not that slow to take the photo after you push the button. I've tried the G15, and it seems faster than G12 in almost every aspect, but I want something cheaper and smaller.

So I'm considering either the S100 or S110, I know they're almost the same camera, but reading some specifications:

- Startup delay. 230ms for S110 and 2400ms for S100. Is the new one so much faster? Really? It means that the S110 it's almost an ever ready camera, and that the S100 is way too slow. I was almost clicking on "order", then I read:

- Shutter lag. 250ms for S100 and 484ms for S110. Doh. Is the S110 so much slower than the S100?

I may take in consideration other brands, if there's a fast P&S around that don't cost a fortune (Sony RX100 for example).
