It's possible that the failure is in the electronic interface in the enclosure. Take the drive out of the current enclosure and try it in another enclosure or SATA dock to see if the drive is still ok.

Another possibility is that the controller circuit board on the drive has failed but the internal workings of the drive are still ok. It's much more complicated, but you can replace the circuit board on the drive with one from an identical drive and recover your files. Admittedly this is only something you would try if you had lost the drive that had the only copies of your files.

I keep 4 copies of all my images and Lightroom catalogs, two external drives and two networked drives.
