Hello all....

I have a few questions regarding the NX300 and various flash units. I'm definitely not a new poster - well, on this forum I am - but lately I've been eyeing the NX300 for purchase. Right now I shoot quite a bit with a large variety of micro 4/3 cameras, along with the Fuji X-E1 - all of which I absolutely love.

The last time I owned a Samsung camera was when I had the 815 Pro and that seems like ages ago. So I have my memory jogged with regards to a few things here., As of late, the NX300 has me really intrigued.

OK - so now on to the specific quesitons. One of the major aspects for me - with regards to any particular camera brand - is the type of external flash units that are available. I do quite a bit of indoor flash photography.

1. There is one Samsung dedicated TTL flash I'm eyeing and it's the Samsung ED-SEF42A unit (which is modeled on the Sunpak model 42 - which is a great flash to begin with). But wherever I see it listed, it shows that it was made for the NX10? Does this mean that this particular flash is a specific model dependent unit - the NX10? Or, is this flash good on any of the Samsung Mirrorless ILC's? Here's the link to it at the B&H site:

As already mentioned, it's an NX compatible flash. The only incompatible part may be the AF Assist lamp. As far as I'm aware even though they appear to have AF-Assist lamps, none of the Sunpak derived flashes for Samsung or Fuji actually do anything despite being shown in their manual's illustrations. The ones sold under the Sunpak name (such as the PZ42X versions for Canon, Nikon and Sony) have functioning AF Assist lamps, at least according to B&H's spec's. The Sunpak flashes sold under Samsung's and Fuji's label (ED-SEF42A and EF-42) don't.

In addition, the Fuji EF-42 is slightly more expensive ($156) but the Samsung version is much more expensive ($229). If I recall correctly, when I last checked about a year or two ago, the Sunpak labeled flashes included a 4-pack of NiMH AA batteries and a charger. Now they just throw in an alkaline AA 4-pack.
