Shot yesterday (July 22nd) at 8:54 PM with the full moon rising over the southern tip of the Grand Mesa while shooting off a rock outcropping at the Grand View Overlook on the Colorado National Monument. Quite dark when I shot this and tripod was used to steady camera and allow for longer shutter speeds. Just started shooting with the 6D. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome...thank you in advance!

You asked for comments and suggestions. This shot has potential but it looks like the sun, not the moon. You could do an HDR exposure with a 2nd shot under-exposed to get the details in the moon. Another thing you could do is to use a graduated neutral density filter to keep the sky as night.

Perhaps you can use Lightroom/Aperture (especially if you captured in RAW) to work this image a bit, bring the moon/sky down so that we know it is night shot and perhaps bring up the foreground mountains to make them pop.
