7D w/ 70-200 2.8 - Having MACRO trouble with BEE's

OK, so I'm crazy tring to shoot bees but what the heck... it was a slow day. I found it's not so easy.  Will someone tell me how to get my 7D with the 70-200 f/2.8 USM IS II to focus as close as possible??

Every time I tried to step in the 70-200 or 7D would just keep searching and the little suckers were right there.   I trie 2.8 all the way to 6.0 / single point focus and spot metering / the 70-200 was on 12.mm to infinity.

Here is the best I could get and I'm not a happy camper! Comeon guys and gals.... give me some BEE tips <ROFL>
