Could somebody explain exactly how working FF makes it easier to control negative space? I draw seriously (photography is my artisitic third love, after drawing and writing), and I am well aware of the significance of the negative. But I admit I think of managing negative space primarily as a function of composition, and in photographs as a function of controlling depth of field (leaving positive space sharp and blurring the negative spaces). Obviously composition is composition regardless of what camera you use, so is FF superior to APS-C in this regard because of better control of depth of field or for some other reason?

One of the main advantages of a larger camera, with a larger lens, is that you can have a shallow DOF at high aperture numbers. Where you might need F1.4 for an APS-C you can get away with F2.0 for FF. And -- its much easier to get a high quality image at F2.0 than F1.4.
