Re: Canon 50mm f1.2 - are the issues sorted now ?

There seems to be some misunderstanding of the 'focus shift' problem with the 50 1.2L.

Yes the lens is a little soft wide open, may need MFA and performs better on the newest cameras because of their improved AF precision. None of these factors is related to focus shift which is due to a shift in the plane of focus when the lens is stopped down to take a shot after focus is achieved wide open (AF is always achieved wide open whatever the chosen aperture).

Focus shifts more as the lens is stopped down further. It's absent at f1.2 but increases as aperture becomes smaller. Because dof increases as we stop down, although focus shifts, the effect becomes invisible at smaller apertures. It is only visible from around f2.8 to f5.6 and much more marked at short to medium focus distances.

All 50 1.2s show focus shift and it's easy to see if you go looking for it. If you don't stop down past f2 it'll never be an issue.
