Re: Pentax as first DSLR?

Another Pentax lover heard from!  Thanks, Holger.  I bought my first Pentax a few years after you did-- it was a K 1000 SE, and I've never loved a camera like I did that Brick with its split image focusing screen and the first lens I bought (used) after the kit 35 mm-- the 85 mm portrait lens.  I also had (and still have) an MX, a K2, also bought used in very battered and brassed condition (made me feel like a real pro), and I even recently adopted an LX, along with a whole case of lenses, that was abandoned by its previous owners.  The camera bodies may have seen their day, for those of us who have sampled the joys of unlimited "free" photography with digital, but if I get a Pentax DSLR maybe the lenses can have another day.

The K5 sounds like a very good camera-- if I could find a used body, that might be the very best option. And the Sigma 50mm f2.8 Macro lens might make a good modern equivalent of the old 85mm.
