Backing up photos before ...
. . . my laptop finally gives up!?
Hi all, I am using an old version of Elements 6 to PP and store my photos. My laptop has been doing some weird things lately and I want to back my photos up in case the worst should happen. I have an external drive that I use sometimes. If when I next power up Elements and it asks do I want to back up, can I back the photos onto the external drive and have easy access later?
I'm not sure how it all works. Would I just be saving files belonging to the photos? Or would I be saving the actual photos?
I have problems sometimes retrieving photos as the laptop tells me they can't be found and I get either a cracked image of a file, or a thumbnail that can't be opened. So basically I want to download my pics onto an external drive and still have access to them on a new laptop should this one give up?
