Canon 40/2.8 or Sigma 30/1.4 Art

I recently bought a Canon 700D together with the 18-55 STM kit lens.
I'm a beginner and my plan was/is to use the kit lens to learn. However... I'm itching for a prime lens to have as my walking around lens and have been looking at the Canon 40mm pancake and the new Sigma 30/1.4 Art.

The pancake is very appealing at its low price (half than the sigma art) and its low weight.

I am a bit worried if 40mm will be a bit much on a crop though.
I would also like to be able to shoot better indoor photos in low light and 1.4 should be much more preferable than 2.8.

I understand that there is no right answer here, but i would very much appreciate your opinion.
If you were to choose between these two, which would you prefer and why?
