Follow up: I got my camera back last Tuesday (so, it took roughly 2.5 weeks). According to the repair list they replaced the optical assembly and/or shutter(?)

Thanks for the update, I was curious. A pity the service took the best part of a month, but it could have been worse anyway...

And indeed the dust wasn't on the sensor. About the shutter being replaced, it seems normal as its mechanical part is a leaf shutter (as opposed to focal-plane shutter), located somewhere inside the lens assembly where it allows a relatively small opening to cover the entire image circle.

As a side note, the major gaps for dust to enter are arguably under the rims of the telescoping lens barrel which, not being sealed, acts as a (slow) vacuum pump as it extends. So, perhaps too optimistically, sometimes I set the lens to max. zoom just to check for specks on the extended barrel and dust them off.
