Noise dots in T1i (with 70-300L), help

hi all,

This is my first post in dpreview, even though I've checked out the forums for a while before registering and postings. I'd like to seek help or advices of a problem that I've found in today's shootings.

My camera is a T1i (500D) and recently acquired a new lens (70-300 f/4-5.6L) and in general, very happy with this quality and output from this lens.

Today I decided to try out night shooting with this lens, and I found lots of noise dots when editing in LR 4 (I shoot in all raw files), and this picture was having 30s exposure, ISO 100 - the lowest one I can set for this camera.

Lot os noise dots when enlarging the picture - using 70-300 f/4-5.6L

However, for other shoots using another lens (50mm f/1.8 II), also running long exposures, the case of noise dots was not so serious.

In both cases, camera setting for "noise reduction for long exposures" was turned off - I'd like to do the noise reduction in LR instead of camera.

Also checked with my previous night shooting raw files using Canon 10-22mm, Tarmon 17-50, the case of noise dots were also minimal.

Is this the lens problems - a new lens won't fit for the old body, or the camera is too old that the sensor needs repairing?

Thanks in advance!

Canon EOS 500D (EOS Rebel T1i / EOS Kiss X3)
