I have both lens and as far as quality of the results goes the edge goes to the 75, but the 35-100 is no slouch, and not that far behind. I've used each of them for several trips to various Renaissance Fairs in Texas. The extra stop+ of the 75 would be more of an advantage in the venue you're talking about over the fairs, but the advantage certainly goes to the 35-100 for flexibility. After using both I've settled on the zoom for the dynamic environments, and the prime will be put to use when I'm in control.

I've seen purple fringing with both lens on occasion, but it's not rampant and is easily corrected in post.
