If the two lenses were priced roughly the same, I might have gone for the Panasonic. But with the 75mm being sharper, faster AND $600 cheaper, it was almost a no-brainer.

I had that same decision when I purchased my GH3 and my lenses, but opted for the 12-35mm and the 35-100mm.  I have no doubt at all the Olympus 75mm is a beautiful piece of glass (and I plan on buying it myself).  IMO the 35-100mm gives me far more options and it is an incredible lens in it's own right.  Being able to shoot the equivalent of 70 to 200mm is pretty dang sweet, and yes, it was worth the the money I spent (and there are some competitive prices on this lens as a new lens).  The 35-100mm is actually my favorite of the two zoom lenses I own too.
