I recall reading somewhere that from the T1i to the T2i , there was a big 1 stop step improvement in sensor noise.  I don't know if this is true, but if yes, you could upgrade to a a T2i or T3i for next to nothing and compensate for the slower lenses.

Theses lenses are also easy to rent.  I would buy the 85 and rent 70-200 lenses for the weddings when required.  I wouldn't rent a body because the ergonomics are tough to learn, but lenses are easier to accomodate.
