Tripod - Sirui vs Feisol vs Gitzo

Hi all,

I had my heart set on a sirui tripod, but after searching this forum have found many alternatives :S

I have a nex 7 with zeiss 24mm and plan to later get a full frame (with <100mm lenses)

I'm going to hong kong and singapore next week and so have the option to buy tripods on the ''cheap" (espec sirui in singapore) - (budget is max 400-500sgd but less is better of course!)

My choices are:

  • Sirui T1205x with g10 head- cheapest (about 300sgd)

benefits: cheap, lightest (about 800g w/o head)

cons: no detachable monopod, short (max of 130.5cm extended)

  • Sirui N1205 with g10 head - about 399sgd

benefits: still light (1kg w/o head), detachable monopod, ht 153cm

cons: is it worth the extra weight and price for the monopod

  • Sirui S-1205-N - about 459sgd with k10x head

benefits: still 1kg, legs rotate around to sit flat (good for luggage), detachable monopod, height 141cm

cons: expensive - is it worth the extra only for the sitting flat feature?? looks weird too

  • feisol ct-3332

benefits: 0.75g (w/o head)

cons: not as cheap in singapore???, is the sirui better value?

  • gitzo gt1542t

benefits: i think it is more compact with the tripod circumference when folded???

cons: super duper expensive!!!!

After reading up, I now hesitate with the sirui tripods because the pictures look quite 'chunky' on the website. I am wondering if the feisol or gitzo are much smaller (circumference) when folded???

My ultimate goal is to get one awesome tripod with priorities on small packed size and light weight. i want to walk around the streets without worrying about folded size or weight.

For the above, i have no clue about the tripod circumference when folded since all of the sites only talk about folded length and not circumference.

Tripod height is semi important but i am 23yrs old and 178cm so it doesn't bother me to bend over a little.

I think that a monopod feature would be handy.

Oh and links to save time are:

thank you in advance for any advice!!!!
