As I've mentioned before, I live in the Sunland Tujunga area (yeah, the same place that had the Station Fire in '09...got as far as the end of my street) and to say we have a healthy, viable population of wild birds up here is an understatement of the grandest scale. Be they transient or permanent we've got just about every kind of feathered critter you can imagine and this year's turning out to be the best birding experience I've had yet:

Hummingbird...looking for supper, I suppose!

Sparrows, finches, hummers...you name it, we got it:

Duck in the Wash...wow, we've got WILD DUCKS up here!

Hooded Oriole...I've been seeing LOTS of these guys about!

Green Heron hiding in the rushes...not the best shot as he was pretty far away but I was happy to get it anyway!

American Goldfinch...these wee characters are all over the place this year...

Juvenile Crow...first time on his own

Acorn Woodpecker...the inspiration for Woody!

Not sure....

Northern Mockingbird....just after I took this he chased me down the street!

Western Bluebird..what a pretty lil guy!

Nuttall's Woodpecker....I had no idea we had 'em up in ST!
