i think the fact that most of the top tier vendors are able to utilize some form of planned obsolescence or controlled release of functionality/features, we should not expect rapid turn around on some of the newest designs for the top tier models.   Canon does well due to a good balance of sales on all tiers.  However, with some of the shifts in the low end P&S, i think they are trying to restrategize their plans going forward.  They have the advantage of being a large conglomerate with Cameras/Photography only being a portion of their overall sales.

i expect to see some changes but also some non-events as they try and protect themselves and their shareholders in these turbulent times.
