Ah, I did briefly search for that but didn't find anything that seemed relevant so I thought it was something internal that didn't matter.

Will experiment with just two, in different ports and switch up cables to rule out all connection issues.

While investigating my 42-43ms variation, I came across 600D review where they say that shutter lag for 'Prefocused Optical Viewfinder' is 0.087s while Continuous AF Optical Viewfinder lag is 0.129 - difference between them being 42ms - could this be it? But how could be, if lens is set to Manual Focus...

Well that is spooky. The obvious thing to do is see if it makes any difference switching the body between One-Shot and AI Servo (with the lens still in MF as before). Does the 600D have AI Focus? I'd try that too just for fun.
