Just out of interest - for those who use Silkypix to process the RAW file how many of the tools do you use. When I was experimenting the other day I used all the tools but then tried sharpening in CS3 and got the impression that CS3 maybe had the edge for sharpening

What I found puzzling with Silkypix is that you can sharpen the image using the sharp tool, then when you save it there appears to be yet another sharpening tool in the save dialogue. Does anyone know why and what is exactly happening...I would have thought that sharpening an image that has already been sharpened would be a no no ?

I cannot answer this question directly but indirectly, at least for myself, my sharpening in my raw converter is always slight. Then, after any additional work is done in photoshop or whatever one uses, i resize the image for a particular need like web or prints.... that is when I do my real sharpening since the sharpening I need of a small web image differs from that of a 5x7 print which differs from a 12x18 print....

In other words, sharpening is always my last step after resized. If you do your serious sharpening on a large version and then resize it is not as good Since you have added contrast to edges that then get modified. That is how I have been doing this for many years, sharpen last, remove noise first.
