Re: Making video with Canon 600D

Hi,

To be honest I still don't quite fully understand what the issue you are describing is'. I have looked at my video and stuff on line and compared it to my GH1 and not really seen any difference. I can only guess that I am not as critical regarding video. Motion appears to me to be fluid with no tearing or obtrusive JPEG artefacts. (..and a real leap from those compact cameras with so called HD!)

Obviously rapid motion suffers from the rolling shutter effect, which is slightly more pronounced on the 600D than the GH1. The GH1 has a very *slight* issue with mud in the dark areas of the image. But I don't find really find this a problem. From what I understand there is  'hacked firmware' to fix this.

If I am recording rapid motion, I tend to use the 720p option - as this has less rolling shutter (i.e. a faster download due to less pixels) and the 50p also helps to smooth the moving image more. (note at 50p though the PC monitor will be set to 100Hz)

I certainly don't see "every other frame missing" or jumping that you describe though.

Regards

Andy.
