At the end of the day raw will save your butt when you make a mistake.

Example = I was shooting my son's baseball team for their last game at the end of the season Saturday. Was shooting each kid and was exposed perfectly at F/3.5. Then we were all talking and we did the group shot. I had the camera in full manual mode, and adjusted the aperture to F/11 to get everyone in focus (3 rows of kids/coaches). Of course in my haste I forgot to slow down the shutter, so every picture came out nearly pitch black (3.3 EV full stops underexposed).

I was able to salvage these by adjusting the exposure / highlights/shadows/whites in Lightroom and no one is the wiser.

If anything shoot raw + jpg at least. Just in case!
