Final conclusion: my goal would be to use NO sharpening at all on a RAW file, which Iridient makes a near reality (for ME). Done.

To me it looks like Iridient is applying some sharpening in the demosaicing process, because squinting at the two images with sharpening turned off I can see some artifacts popping up.
