The budget isn't a huge issue ... i'd prefer the cost not to get too high but at the same time i don't want to spend money on rubbish.

I'm now just wondering if i should get the weatherproof 12-50 ... i know some people have said they don't like it but i'm guessing i'm going to come into contact with a bit of rain so is it maybe better to have the weatherproof lens?

The 12-50 isnt worlds best lens but its an ideal travel companion.

With the 12-50 you get a very versatile lens and you dont need to worry if its raining. There are sharper lensrs but its sharp enough for normal use, focuses very quick but is slow in the longer end.

I use it a lot myself

I agree.... unless you're going to make the investment on the Panny 12-35, also weather sealed, the 12-50 gives you peace of mind and I have very good photos taken with it. It's slow, but I would never leave it home (I don't have  any other weather sealed lens) just in case. It is serving me welll and  it's practically free when purchased with the EM5. By the way, this camera is a perfect travel companion.
