I think its very original and artistic.  The best photos IMO are the ones that have a story to tell.  Henri Cartier-Bresson was very good at it.  Its an ambiguous picture and the viewer is free to interpret it via their own imagination and experiences.

Kudos to the photographer/artist who conceived it.  Another photographer who's into complex story telling is Gregory Greenleaf, a NY artist whose pictures sell in the 6 figures.  There are so many religions and cultures out there that it seems impossible to not offend someone.

For me, I'm don't like to see a lot of violence so i self-censor by not attending movies with a lot of gratuitous violence.  I suggest the OP do something similar - if an image offends one, don't spend a lot of time looking at those kinds of pictures - simple.
