It is probably good NOT to have every bell and whistle. Camera should have RAW option, and should have manual, aperture priority, shutter priority modes with automatic exposure compensation ability. That definition fits every DSLR and many point and shoot cameras out there. There is a lot to learn, and it is best to learn the basics before fiddling with 15 different modes of autofocus.

Optics hold their utility far longer than bodies.
