I am looking to part with my Tamron SP 70-300 and my A100 to get this camera and I looking for a more compact do all camera. I know I do not get raw images with this camera but I have seen the pics and they look good but I am concerned on the focus speed of this camera. I am hoping that it is faster and more accurate than my A100 and as fast as my A700.

Is this camera good at focusing?

Hi Tony

Whilst I havent had a problem with focusing in good light or indoor, I dont think this is the right camera to be your DSLR replacement/upgrade.

If you are looking for image quality and reach, you might be better off with the Nikon 7700 or Panasonic LF1 if you need a pocket camera.. assuming the RX100 doesnt have enough reach for you..

If the OP means by "looking for a more compact do all camera" one that can also do video in 1080p60, the HX50V can do it but not the Nikon 7700 or Panasonic LF1. The RX100 and RX100II can also do 1080p60.

True, thats why I dont have either of those. But I got the impression that he wasnt too concerned about video.

No I am looking for video and from what I have seen and read I am ok with this camera as far as video but stills I will be doing 90% of the time and it will be family candid shots so I do not want to wait for the camera to hunt.  I want quick focus and accurate focus and sorry if I was not clear to that respect in the OP.  Thanks for the feed back its very much appreciated.
