That new backlit CMOS sensor in the RX100 11 is somewhat revolutionary. It doesn't seem to have hit the forum yet but I regard that as exceptional.

In the astrophotography world, backlit and thinned CCDs are worth $20-40,000!

So to get a backlit CMOS sensor in a small consumer camera is somewhat amazing and shows how far technology has advanced and how cutting edge Sony is.

Now if they put that same technology into the 16.3mp Exmor in the Nex 6 or 24.3 mp Nex 7 - wow, that would make it a powerful, powerful camera.

A 40% gain in sensitivity is a huge gain. Imagine if there was a new model of your car with 40% more horsepower - that would be a huge gain right?

An Nex 6 with that type of technology would be really low noise and even more superb in low light.

It would most likely make it the leader in low light high ISO performance.

Greg.
