NX1000 Query on Macro, Filters and Zoom
Jun 26, 2013
Hi
I've been enjoying reading some really helpful threads on here, so thanks. I've just bought the NX1000 which (apparently like several others here) is my first interchangable lens camera. It comes with the 16mm and the 20-55mm lens included. I'd like to plan whether I should be looking out for some other lenses so that if they come up at a good price I can get them.
This thread (http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3339546) has inspired me to get the 30mm pancake, which I hope can be for general use, portraits and pictures of the kids playing. I'm assuming I can use the 16 (or the other two) for landscapes.
My first question is, when I do macro photography (insects etc.) then what lens would be best to buy? Does the camera have a macro setting or do I just work out the settings myself? Can the current lenses be used for macro? If I don't get a special lens can I just do an add-on - I've seen them cheaply on ebay/amazon, but do they work work? (eg 1 at amazon, 1 at ebay , another at ebay).
My second question relates to filters and, when looking up the macro things above, kept finding details on these. Are they worth getting? Is it okay if they're cheap? (eg this one on ebay, slightly more expensive one on amazon). Should I be using a lens hood too?
Thirdly I'd like long-term to consider a zoom lens. The official NX ones seems to include either a 18-200 or a 50-200. Is there any advantage to getting the one with the smaller range - does this make it stronger or anything? Or would it be better to get the 18-200 one and then get rid of the 20-55 one that comes with the camera? Or should I consider an adaptor and legacy lens in order to save on my rather tight finance? I'm guessing that 200 will be the max considering the size of the camera (will take some getting used to as my last camera was over 800). Is there an issue of image shake at 200mm and does this depend on the lens used?
Finally any other comments anyone would like to make about things to put on my wishlist (remote control? tripod? lcd cover? different flash) would be most welcome.
Actually (sorry for remembering one more question, I know this is getting to a silly length) my current camera I normally switch down from full-res (16mp) to half-res as that gives less noisy images. Do other NX1000 owners normally do at full or less? I do shoot raw, so space can also become an issue.
Many many thanks for your time, and I guess congratulations are in order if you've got this far.
