Investing in Older Manual Lenses

I'm looking possibly get some better lenses for my NX1000, but rather than pay an arm and a leg for the samsung lenses I'm looking to buy an adapter and go with some older lenses that can be acquired on ebay for much cheaper.

I understand the tradeoffs here, you'll need to shoot in either full Manual and Aperture priority mode. Fine with all of that. No auto-focus. Again fine with that. These would be used in situations where I wouldn't use auto-focus anyway.

The question is, which mount to go with? Being newer to photography I don't know what would be my best options. I suspect the best one to go with would be the one which had the largest market initially  as this would mean it would probably good optics and there will be lots of second hand lenses available, so prices should be good. I just don't know which brand(s) this would be? Any input is much appreciated.

Also I don't have a specific class of lens I'm looking at now, another option is to just get multiple mount adapters I suppose. Is this a better idea? Get the best/cheapest of most worlds?  I should probably also add that I'm just doing this as a hobbyist, not a pro or any desire to get into that.
