Why is my NEX not as good as RX100 or even LX5?

Re: Why is my NEX not as good as RX100 or even LX5?

I did a comparison a while back between my RX100 and Nex 6 and Fuji XE1 and I was also surprised that in bright daylight shooting the RX100 gave sharper resolution than the Nex 6 with the 16-50 kit lens and came quite close to the Fuji XE1 with its high quality zoom.

But thats the point. The Nex 6 can change lenses and the 16-50 whilst not a bad lens is not as sharp as a nice prime. Put a Nikon 105 F2.5 AIS on it or a Contax g Zeiss 45mm and then have another look. Now your Nex would be way ahead.

In low light the Nex is strong performer not so much the RX100. RX100 is great for video. So is Nex but perhap RX100 more so.

Nex of course has more features and abilities overall, apps etc.

In your case it comes down to the lens. The sensor is only part of the equation of a great photo the lens is one of the other main factors.
