How many shots is enough?

I guess my thinking was that pros can take great shots without taking as many clicks.

If the subject and light were static, it might not take as many clicks for a pro. But so often we are outdoors and the light keeps changing. Perhaps the subject moves as well. That means so many more shots to get the best one(s)!

I have heard the process described as "working the scene".
