The ZF lenses are non-cpu and require setup in that menu, just like AI Nikkors. The ZF.2 lenses have cpu's and automatically register focal length and aperture; the aperture may also be controlled from the camera.

Actually, what I have is a zeiss 50mm f/1.4 zf,2 lens. But the lens fell into sea water and stopped functioning electornically i.e. when I set to P mode, the focal length shows up as F--.

So, I am forced to use it as a non-cpu lens and it works fine for me.
