Honestly I don't see Sigma giving up on their DSLR since the sensor is such a great way to showcase their new high quality lens line.

Full Frame would be a world beater but would be very expensive and have an even smaller market than the SD1M has found. Plus let me put on my tin foil hat and speculate that the it sure seems odd that all the noise about the Nikon patent infringement lawsuit went away when the D800 came out and cuncurrently the renamed and repriced SD1M came out. A Full frame Foveon would surely raise Nikon's ire again the Flying Monkeys with Briefcases would be unleashed on Sigma for some old arcane patent.
