No, not out of camera in this case... this one was done manually, using the RAW file set up in layers and various portions of each layer erased revealing the layer beneath with different adjustments then merged.. some might call this stacking.

I have tried Photomatix but just find it too over the top for me.  I like HDR that resembles what the eye can see and that is what I was going for in this shot.

The OOC HDR of the K5 IIs is pretty good but I did not use it in this example.

The ability to 'see' the shot is more important than the gear used to capture it.
