Re: Magenta cast on DP2x

Stupid question, but did you check your monior? When CFL backlight starts to go bad it will give you magenta cast in darker areas and sometimes does the same thing happens when calibration goes wrong.

There's always been a slight magenta cast problem with all the Sigma DP's I've had, but the latest camera (DP2X) is much worse now.

It never originally had a strong magenta cast, it was almost invisible in fact but just recently, over the last few months, the cast has become impossible to work with. It is always more prominent on any over-exposed frames, I am doing a lot of auto-bracketing and the 2 stops over just gives me a magenta and white image mostly. Hardly any other colour showing. Really horrible. The 'normal' exposed frame gives magenta cast too but this is more controllable with post-processing. The under exposed one is not too bad but still a faint evidence of magenta cast on them too. What bothers me is it is getting worse and I am unable now to get rid of the cast completley using Photoshop. I have had a little more success with Oloneo Photo-engine, but it should not be necessary to have to do all this drastic tweaking. I use RAW format all the time.

Does anyone else have this bad problem and is there a solution? Unfortunatley the camera was bought just over 12 months ago so I can't claim anything under warrantee.

The sample JPG is of one of the over-exposed frames, converted from RAW.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks.
