Anyone experiencing this? I have a G12 (and a G5 back in 2004). Sometimes I ask friends to take pictures and they say :' how come it doesn't work?' and I have to say :'you have to hold the button down and keep pressing.'

And I went to Canon's showroon and tested the display model next to mine. The same.

If you acquire focus (half pressure on the shutter, green focus confirmation, bleep if you have the bleep set) hold that pressure and then complete the shutter movement when you want the shot, the camera fires instantly. The shutter will not fire until focus has been achieved, so if you simply stab the shutter button there could well be a delay while the camera tries to find something to focus on (longer in low light of course) and then when it has, fires the shutter.

What other camera/s do you have that you are comparing it with?
