Samsung responds quickly to my questions...
about my NX20 body firmware update. I was pleasantly surprised to find a quick reply from Samsung customer support to my email about the update issues I was having. Fortunately for me, I was able to recognize my mistake and complete the update earlier today.
I thought it would be helpful for others if I share what Samsung sent me in their reply. They recommend using the Intelli-studio method, so I wonder whether others have tried this method of updating?
Quote from Samsung customer service email;
"I understand your camera’s firmware will not update. What I have done is include step by step instructions to update your firmware just to verify every step has been taken. Please see below:
When the firmware is downloading do not remove the camera from the computer as this can cause damage to the camera. Once the firmware is downloaded and installed on your camera it is not possible to restore your firmware to an earlier version.
Note: A memory card is required in order to update the firmware.
How to Update Your Camera Firmware
Follow the steps below to update your camera's firmware:
1. Connect your camera to your PC. Intelli-Studio will pop up.
Note: Intelli-studio version 3.0 or higher is required.
2. After intelli-studio pops up, mouse over and click Web Support.
Note: If a memory card is not in your camera the Web Support option will not appear.
3. Select Upgrade firmware for the connected device.
4. A pop up will appear. After intelli-studio connects with the Samsung Server the latest firmware version will appear in the pop up window.
Note: If your camera has the latest version available, the following message will appear: “No need to upgrade”.
5. Click next to begin transferring the firmware to your camera, a progress bar will appear.
6. Once the file has been completely moved to your camera, press the close button and disconnect your camera from your PC.
7. After the camera is disconnected from your PC, power on your camera. Press the shutter button to begin updating your firmware. A message will appear that the firmware on your camera is being updated.
Note: Make sure your camera battery is fully charged, if the camera battery is not fully charged and the camera powers off during the firmware update, your camera may be seriously damaged and need repair.
8. After the firmware file upgrade is complete your camera will power off.
Note: The firmware file is deleted from your memory card once the update is complete.
