Synching Sound Tricks

I use either Vegas Pro 12.0 or Movie Studio Plantinum 12.0 and they both allow me to sync the sound from an H1, H2n or H4n, with very little effort.   It does NOT do this automatically.  But, I can slide the soundtrack back and forth while previewing for excellent matching.

I've found that video sound and the sound captured by the Zoom recorders stays in sync very well once they are hooked up.

To permit easy hook up, I simply CLAP before each recorded video segment.  This gives me a very clear visual pattern in the waveforms to allow me to sync the tracks with very little effort.  Crowd reaction can be another excellent clue.  The trick is to first VISUALLY line up the waveforms and then micro adjust by sliding the Zoom tracks until it is in perfect sync.
