A37/A57: is it true that the 'Focus lock' dosen't lock really

Hi folks !

It's me or the 'focus lock' feature dosen't lock as long as required?

I worried to know how you use the 'focus lock' available on dedicated lenses by programming the DOF button (A37/A57) since we know that it's just a sort of short 'drop lock' (no hold/toggle by default or not) what dosen't allow you, to use the function when it's required: shooting!

Apparently same things when (re-)programming the AEL button.
So why they called it 'focus lock'? What's the point if we are unable to use it properly?

Thank you for answering
