D2H, Why so Much for a 4MP Camera?

There certainly is more to photography other than megapixels, but sensor performance is important.  And the newer sensors have numerous improvements over the old ones - high ISO performance, better noise characteristics, better dynamic range.

If you are looking at two or three generations behind the current as viable - then maybe consider a D2x as long as you don't need to go above ISO 400.

The D2H was really a niche camera, even when it came out.  Smaller file sizes but better high ISO and low light focusing than anything available.

Probably eclipsed by anything remotely current, like a D300, D700 or D3.
