Quote from Photographyblog.com on the Fuji SL1000 image quality: "Despite our reservations about the noise, the image quality is very good. Taking pictures at low ISO will produce very high quality results.. The images are well exposed, sharp and colourful. The digital filters and effects are fun to use, such as Toy camera and Selective colour".

I have the Fuji S8200 (40x zoom) and it has the same non EXR sensor as the SL1000. I have been very pleased with it's IQ, fast to lock in focus, handling, and burst is fast too. The SL1000 is RAW capable, while the S8200 is not. I also like the colors that Fuji gives compared to Canon..personal and subjective for sure. I had a Canon SX40 and still think it gave better IQ than what I have seen from the SX50 and be aware that the Canon tends to "hunt" focus at the long end.

A few images below from my S8200 with the same sensor as SL1000
