Very nice. Good timing, I just dug through my IR filters this weekend and am planning to give it a go with my X-S1. I have an R72 and a #87 IR filters. I was lucky to have the required step up rings as well. Which filter did you use?

I can only imagine the LCD was black, so how did you frame and focus? I'm not familiar with the camera in the EXIF for your photos. Using a DSLR I was able to unscrew my filters to compose and set the manual focus and adjust focus if my lens had an IR marking. I also set manual WB, my DSLRs can help determine what works once the filter is back on. Not a simple process, this is much easier if one has an IR modded DSLR, but that dedicates the camera to IR.

In the spirit of Occam’s Razor one should embrace the less complicated formulation or simply put, less is more.

HI Paul

I own the same setup, how do you control the hotspot ?

Is the hoya R72. The camera is a fuji IS-1 based on the s9500 . You can very easily compose and focus through the evf with the filter fitted and shoot handheld as the camera has the IR/UV blocking filter removed.

As for the X-S1, you should be able to compose and focus with the filter on and the camera mounted on a tripod.

You know that you can get the color IR effect with an R72 by reversing the red and blue channels in PP. Picture below, taken long ago woth a Nikon D70. I'll be giving it a go with the X-S1 ASAP.

IR - Hoya R72 Filter with red and blue channels reversed.
