I agree w Jim.  I am getting better results with the d7100 and the new 80-400 AF-s than with the Nikon 500mm VR or the Sigma 50-500mm OS.  Both static and in flight.

I have to agree - the D7100 and the new 80-400 AF-S would be superb! I'm currently overseas with my new D7100, 18-300 and 80-400 AF-D (the older model). I can see a huge IQ improvement with both lenses on the D7100 compared to the D7000 (which was no slouch!). There is detail in the feathers that I never had with previous DX models.

I can't wait to get home and buy the new 80-400 AF-S
