SX50 - Focusing through obstacles in AF mode

I made today some tests inspired by our friend's Hossam "vanishing" fence photo. For the first one I used my tripode to ensure the same camera position. I focused on the pigeon at the telephoto end (some 60m away) THROUGH a gap of a fence (at some 3m away), then I returned to the wide end and positioned a fence wire exactly over the bird; then extending again the lens I started shooting. All images are sooc:

For the second test I hand held the camera; the geranium is 3m away, the bush 8m away:

For the final test, the pink roses are some 10m away and the red ones 15m:

My conclusion is that the "reasonable" size obstacle are automatically "hazed" by the AF. I think this could be useful in snapshots, when using the MF would not be quick enough.
