I'd be very surprised if the EVF shows up first in Nikon's dSLR line in a spot in the lineup where the D400 would go with a camera optimized for action.  While EVFs are certainly making progress (I have one in my Fuji X-E1), they aren't anywhere near belonging in a camera that is being fully optimized for shooting action.  They just aren't as good as an OVF for things that move quickly.

IMO, it would make much more sense for an EVF to show up in a low-mid range dSLR first where the demands for shooting action are not nearly as great and where the compactness that an EVF affords might be appreciated more by the general market for that level camera than it is in a high-end camera.
