Any remotely serious wildlife shooter understands the importance of getting close, but no serious wildlife shooter uses a 200mm lens unless there's no interest in tight shots showing great detail. Not to say that those kinds of shots can't be incredible in their own right.  And btw, the test was with the f2.8, not the f4, which puts a little more perspective on things.
