HX50 > TZ40 ?

Hi everyone

This is directed at the HX50 users.  Did you consider the TZ40 before deciding on the HX50?

I've recently returned a Canon SX280 due to battery-video issue (it only takes about 5 mins of video with zooming before shutting down from low battery...even though the battery is still fine when set to take photos).

I like the 720mm reach of the Sony and of course its video, however, very often it appears that the photos must be resized heavily to avoid glancing at the smear at 100%.  (I'm not a hard core pixel peeper, but its nice to see extra detail when looking closer at a picture).

There are some very nice samples here of the HX50:

The TZ40 seems to give consistently good quality images:

The TZ40 has 50% less reach, but it also comes in a much more pocketable size.

Waiting for the HX50 review to be completed.

Could you please provide your thoughts?
