I had photography class in college but that was a long time ago. So I'm a novice to this hobby.. Anyway, to me this is an impressive lens for the money; especially, for the quality of it and the way it feels on the hand. Technically, it is a faster and quiter lens comparing the kit lens that came with my 650D, and it is a bit more heavier which is expected for this range of Luxury lens. For the 650D this lense is really good for an every day walk about which I have been doing, and it is really good for a low light condition, indoor, and up close shooting. This is a keeper for me!

Glad your happy with it.  Excellent build.  Terrific wide angle zoom on full frame bodies.

But as "an every day walk about" it is suboptimal on 650D and other APS-C sized bodies.  For less money the EF-S 15-85 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is much better in every respect other than ruggedness.

IMHO, YMMV

Thank you so much for the tips. The lense that you mentioned actually came with the 650D and took beautiful pictures, lite and complimented the camera perfectly. After about 2000 frames I decided to upgrade to an EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS and had used it for another 2000 frames, but reallized that it was too slow at certain focal distance and not as good as the 15-85 lense, but loved the zoom though. So, I went for another upgrade and had my eye on the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM but it is on a pricey side for what it is comparing to the " L " lense that I ended up with. So, there is a method to my madness I must say, but eventually I will have to uprade my EOS to " optimize " the ' L' lense, any sugestion?

My only suggestion would be to please spell 'lens' correctly.
