Re: Maximum video recording time Canon 60D

Looks like this is a pretty old thread. I quit using my 60 D about a year ago because it would stop in the middle of interviews. The time was arbitrary. I just updated my firmware to 1.1.1 and did some tests. It seems that at full HD The camera stops recording around 12:00. My guess is this is a file size limit not a time limit. I've worked with professional Video cameras recording on FAT32 drives and they never miss a frame. as soon as the file size limit is reached, a new file is started.

Why can the 60 D do this. In my estimation the 60 D is NOT a video camera. I love it as a still camera.

While the 12 minute limit, remains, Magic Lantern firmware has a feature that will automatically continue the recording, dropping only a few frames.

If you do video, ML has countless essential features, as well as some great features for stull shooters.
